The Secretary to the Lagos State Government, Mrs. Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin yesterday shed light on the significance of the ‘plus’ sign which has been added to the pivotal agenda of Gov. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu which aptly termed THEMES+ Agenda. This was at the ELOY Awards ceremony to celebrate deserving women in the society.

In her brief chat with Trek Africa Newspaper at the event, Mrs. Abimbola Salu-Hundeyin noted about the ELOY Awards, ‘this is a great program I see it as another form of talent hunt for women. I feel excited and and encouraged. I like the resilience, she has been at this for 15 years for women to know that they can be appreciated by their own. Any nation that wants to grow must take women seriously.’

‘Lagos State Government is far ahead of other states in terms of SME growth and support. At a SME workshop that I declared open yesterday, I was particularly touched by primary school children who were there to showcase their skills. At every point, our Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu is out to make sure the lives of people in Lagos are better by the day. That is why we are investing in SME, women, children, and youths.’

‘In the THEMES+ Agenda, we added plus which means gender equality, youth development, and inclusivity so that everybody is carried along in this chain of development’, she revealed to Trek Africa Newspaper.

On her part, the Founder of the ELOY Awards, Dr. Tewa Onasanya told Trek Africa Newspaper, ‘Women need to be celebrated, women need to be applauded, women need to be showcased so that other women can emulate them. This year is a year of resilience, it’s been 15 years and incidentally this is the venue we used in 2009, here we are again. Eloy has become the biggest and most consistent award ceremony for women.’

On how she has been able to maintain the awards for 15 years, Dr. Onasana said: ‘The strength for this consistency is drawn from the fact that people light up when you celebrate them and they want to do more when they know that they are being seen. We hold conferences and seminars to inspire people and to provide access yo women empowerment, mentoring, entrepreneurial training, and access to affordable loans so that they can thrive in their businesses and pursue their dreams. I will encourage women to come out and showcase yourself for the world to see.’

‘Challenges come in various forms like getting sponsorships and knowing who to nominate for the award but the public has helped in this regard when we throw in the criteria. Thus is an award built on integrity’, Onasanya concluded.

Trek Africa Newspaper can report that some of the awardees on parade include Omobolaji Mogaji who won the ELOY Award for innovative beauty entrepreneur; Omo Oba Aderonke Adepoju who won the ELOY Award for content creator; DJ Cuppy who won the ELOY Award for best female DJ; Morenike Molehin who won the ELOY Award for entrepreneur, Olamide Alao Akala who won the ELOY Award for Agriculture, Tokunbo Chinedu who won the ELOY Award for Women who inspires among others.
