• For her, the best of humanity is generosity – Alawiye-King

Her 12 years of service at the Nigerian Senate is replete with direct impact of the good people of Lagos Central Senatorial district. Not including quality legislation, her impact has involved empowerment of women, youth, widows, the aged, town hall series, among others. Anybody aspiring to succeed her in Lagos Central Senatorial district has got a lot of work to do. It is a tough job, Trek Africa Newspaper observes, but it’s doable.

Yesterday, the Senator representing the Lagos Central Senatorial district, Senator Oluremi Shade Tinubu OON kicked off year 2023 by providing enterprise support to 100 women. The equipments and financial empowerment includes deep chest freezer, generator, water packs, and N25,000 cash. With the intervention, Trek Africa Newspaper can report that 100 SMEs will be started which would create positive effect on families and the society at large.

At the event, Senator Oluremi Tinubu OON who was represented by Hon. Wahab Alawiye King said that the initiative was to support women in line with the Sustainable Development Goals.

Hon. Wahab Alawiye King added: ‘We must continue to appreciate Sen. Oluremi Tinubu. She is been doing wonderfully well for Lagos Central senatorial district. 100 women are going home with deep freezer, generator, and financial assistance to kickstart their business. For her the best of humanity is generosity. That is what she is been doing since elected as Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.’

‘Nigerian women will benefit a lot if they are elected. We can see what Senator Oluremi Tinubu and Hajia Nana Shettima have been doing from when they were first ladies of their states – Lagos and Borno States – so that combination will produce a lot of benefit for us.’

Hailing the initiative at the event in Lagos, the APC National Women Leader, Dr. Betta Edu noted: ‘To be able to make certain decisions for yourself and children such as where to give birth to your child so as to reduce maternal mortality or telling your husband that you will join money with your husband’s money so that your child can attend a better school. It is when you have money that you can make such decisions. When you empower a woman, you empower a family, community, nation, society.’

‘That is what Senator Oluremi Tinubu is doing so that you can go out to empower your family, Lagos State, and Nigeria’, she told Trek Africa Newspaper.

In the same vein, APC leader and elder statesman, Pa Tajudeen Olusi described the Lagos Central Senator, Sen. Tinubu as an extraordinary person adding that her position will be difficult to fill in the Senate.

Also, the Chairman of Lagos Mainland LGA, Hon. Omolola Essien said: ‘This is a very successful activity. What Senator Oluremi Tinubu has been doing since inception are very impactful for women, aged, widows, etc. African women should emulate her. She and Nana Shettima have been working together and their unity will help Nigeria.’

In her welcome address, Executive Chairman of Iru/Victoria Island LCDA, Hon. Rasheedat Abiodun Adu said empowerment of people of Lagos Central Senatorial District has become a ritual for Senator Oluremi Tinubu. ‘She allowed for the leadership in various Constituents to chose the beneficiaries. I am assured that she will do more if given the opportunity as first Lady of the country.’

For Hon. Kamal Bashua, this is another great step as 100 beneficiaries got big chest freezers, generators, water and drinks, with 25000 naira to start up their businesses.

Bashua added: ‘Lagos has women in many positions – councillors, chairmen, house of Assembly, cabinet, state party structure – than anywhere in the country. So we can see what’s been done for women, definitely if Asiwaju gets to be President, more women will be empowered.’

Trek Africa Newspaper recalled that women have been occupying top positions in Lagos state since the Governorship days of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. This included the Chief Judge of Lagos State, Justice Mrs. Ibitola Adebisi Sotuminu.

Also lauding the SME support, Chief Mrs. Fadekemi Otitonaiye said: ‘Senator Oluremi Tinubu did empowerment for 100 women of Lagos Central senatorial district. She has been doing this for a long time, today’s own is superb. Deep freezer, generator, financial support to encourage them to do business especially because January is a tough time for people. My message to women is to collect their PVCs and vote en masse come 25th February for Asiwaju Tinubu to become President of Federal Republic of Nigeria.’

Thanking Senator Oluremi Tinubu on behalf of the 100 beneficiaries, Mrs. Iyabo Amusan urged all of them to mobilise their households towards massive votes for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu come 25th February 2023.
