Security, economy, and administration of justice will top the agenda as the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) holds its first ever State of the Nation Dialogue in Abuja FCT come 30-31st January 2023. Expected to speak at the dialogue are the top contenders for Nigeria’s no. 1 job in the upcoming elections slated for 27th February.

In his press statement, the President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Barr. Yakubu C. Maikyau disclosed: ‘I have convened the NBA State of the Nation Dialogue at which we shall invite the presidential candidates to speak to us on the three broad subjects of security, economy, and administration of justice. This is scheduled to hold on the 30th January 2023.’

In the same vein, Trek Africa Newspaper can report that the NBA President will also be addressing the tripod issues. Thus, he called on members of Bar and Bench to submit recommendations which will form part of his State of the Nation address on 31 January 2023. ‘I invite you all to share your thoughts on these subjects with the possible recommendations we should make. By this, we shall bring to bear our collective views and will as members of the legal profession (Bench/Bar) in the discharge of our responsibility to guide the Nigerian people.’

‘Your contributions/recommendations should be sent to me via email to yc.maikyau@nigerianbar.org.ng and should reach me on or before the close of work on Monday 23 January 2023’, Trek Africa Newspaper gathered.

It would be recalled that in his inaugural address as NBA President on 26th August 2022, Barr. Yakubu C. Maikyau mentioned ‘there has not been any time in this country when Nigerians have looked more to the Bar as they do now for a way out of the rather bleak situation, and they are certainly looking at the right direction. We have what it takes to precipitate the leadership that will bring the succor and freedom Nigerians deserve and we cannot afford to shirk from that responsibility.’
