‘Nobody is rich enough to buy yesterday, but if you work hard enough tomorrow can be yours. The dreams of a better life can be yours if you work hard and leave no options out of the table’ were the words of Mrs Rosemary Takor, Assistant General Manager, Western Lotto & Bet as she engaged a cross section of workers at the May Day Celebration in Lagos.

This is to correct societal misconception about lottery and betting as a system for ne’er-do-wells. Lottery and betting is a way of redistributing wealth and a very good way of reducing poverty among the masses. ‘It is on record that we have a young lady who staked N100 and won N15 million, but daily we have people who win N200,000, N500,000 only that we don’t publicise their stories. So it is not always about the jackpot but also about the N50, 000 that you can use to stock food in your house, the N200, 000 that you can use to pay your rent. The winnings are higher than our revenue. We keep on bringing new games while we phase out those ones that are not vibrant. With N100 you can win millions of naira and make tomorrow yours’, Mrs. Takor asserts.

The business organisation has helped to reduce unemployment by absorbing many graduates into its operation while many youth corpers are serving in the company. ‘My team is made up of vibrant youths who are changing their lives and the lives of others. We make millionaires and that is for real. The company employs hundreds of workers, have thousands of POS machines for gaming manned by young people across the country. We have super agents who have 30 to 100 agents under them. We have graduates working with us and youth corpers serving with us, this is a legitimate, vibrant and viral way of making money.’

Apart from money-making, gaming is also about entertainment, ‘It is not just business, it is also entertainment so rather than get bored in traffic you see people play and they win. And of course, we have limits, there is a point you play that the system knocks you out so there is no room for addiction, recklessness or obsession. It is healthy entertainment that rewards you. We ask you to play responsibly.’

The business concern has made giant strides in just two years of operation because of the efforts and resources committed into brand awareness, thus, it has competed favourably with other brands which have been in the industry for years. The efforts and resources. The Western Lotto and Bet executive concluded: ‘It is a silent revolution that is going on. We redistribute wealth, you bring your N100, I bring my N100, someone else wins and by that wealth is being distributed because you will also use that money in a business that will employ more people and yield more wealth. We are a sure way to push poverty out of the country. It is your time, play; it is your time, escape poverty, it is your time to start the business, to build the new house, to buy the new car. It is all about opportunities.’
