SOMOLU LG CHAIRMAN ‘DULLAR’ REITERATES HIS COMMITMENT TO YOUTH AND SPORTS DEVELOPMENT

Engaging the youths and encouraging them to be of their best in their legitimately chosen career is the best way to enable the younger generations to be great assets to themselves, their communities and the whole nation including the government.
Despite the commercial nature of the business hub area of Somolu, the Local Government Chairman, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu has reiterated his commitment and support in order to get the best for his area in terms encouraging youth and sports development.

According to Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu, while receiving the Somolu-born African boxing Champion, Riliwan ‘Showboy’ Lawal at his Durosimi street secretariat of Somolu Local Government, the Council Helmsman said as Somolu has now been known to be the homes of Champions in boxing and table tennis, his administration won’t relent in his effort to produce more boxing and ping-pong maestros.
Recall that Riliwan ‘Showboy’ Lawal, 29, defeated Nurudeen Fatai, 34, to win National and West African feather weight titles in Lagos last Saturday in the presence of a large mammoth of audience, including Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu who as well as others were all astonished by his spectacular performance While Showboy has won all his 12 fights this year, Fatai won 14 out of his 19 fights.
In encouraging the professional boxer, Hon. Abdul Hamed Salawu gifted a cheque in the presence of Mr. Akintoye Freeman (Acting Council Manager), Mr. Hakeem Adebayo (Council Treasurer) and Barrister Ajoke Raji (Council Legal Officer). Hon. Afolarin Olubiyi (Chief of Staff), Hon. Ayodele Afolabi (SA, Special Duties) and Hon. Adewale Oseni also joined the Mayor of Somolu in receiving ‘Showboy’.
