POLICE HIT CRIMINALS HARD IN DELTA STATE, ARRESTS CULTISTS, RECOVER AMMUNITION

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command are on a massive clamp down on criminal elements in the State with the arrest of more than thirty suspected cultists in various operations.
The operatives led by the Commissioner of Police, Ari Mohammed Ali, says the command under his watch is doing everything possible to reduce crime and criminality in the state.
He urged the public to stay away from crime, since crime does not pay, as Justice must be served on who ever choose crime as a way of living, no criminal will go unpunished.
Last Friday, at about 10.25 pm, while acting on a squealed information, the Commander, State Anti-Cultism Unit (SACU), Igbaji Christopher, a Superintendent of Police despatched some operatives of his Unit to raid a notorious cultists’ hideout at Oghara during which operation 15 suspects were arrested with substance suspected to be Cocaine found on them.
Similarly, in less than 24 hours after the Oghara incident, another batch of 16 suspected cultists were arrested few minutes to their initiation. It was reliably gathered that the 15 male suspects and one female all belonging to the Aye Confraternity were taken to Okpanam for initiation at night, but were unfortunately arrested by operatives of the Special Anti-Cultism Unit who had laid ambush for them based on a tip off. A Toyota Camry car was said to have been recovered from them.
The Acting Police Public Relations Officer of Delta Command, Edafe Bright; a Deputy Superintendent of Police confirmed the incidents and explained that investigations were ongoing to know the suspects’ level of involvement in cult related and other criminal actions.
The police spokesman also said that Commissioner Ali has vowed to drastically reduce the incidence of crime to the barest minimum in the State with a charge on criminal elements to either turn a new leaf, relocate from Delta or be ready to be crushed by officers and men of the Command.

2. On the 14/3/2021 at about 2221hrs, while the Ovwian Aladja Divisional patrol team were on patrol on the highway along Orhuworun/tipper garage axis they sighted armed hoodlums operating on the highway, they were engaged in a gun duel by the police men, the hoodlums escaped with gunshot injury and abandoned a cut-to-size locally made pistol with a live cartridge a bag. Exhibits recovered and manhunt for the fleeing suspect is ongoing.
3.On the 9/3/2021, one Precious Abia Azubule ‘m’ age 23, who escaped from Warri Correctional Center during End SARS protest on 22/10/2020, was arrested by operative while on patrol.
Suspect was arraigned in Magistrate court 4 with charge No. 46/c/2021 on two court charges of conspiracy and escape from lawful custody.
He was sentence 7 years in each count charge totally 14 years imprisonment.
4. On the 12/3/2021 at about 2225hrs, Commander State anti-cult unit (SACU) SP Igbaji Christopher acting on credible information, dispatched SACU operatives to Sapele and raided a notorious cultist hideout in Oghara.
Fifteen (15) suspected cultists were arrested and raps of substance suspected to be cocaine was recovered. Investigation is in progress.
5.On the 13/3/2021 about 2330hrs – 0230hrs of date information received that a cult group called Aye confraternity will be having initiation of new members to be taken place at Okpanam.
Immediately the commander SACU Mobilized men to a nearby bush at Obogba village Okpanam where the initiation is to take place, fifteen (15) male suspects and one (1) female suspect were arrested.
One (1) Toyota Camry car recovered. Investigation is in progress.
On the 15/3/2021 at about 1240hrs, The Divisional Police Officer ‘A’ Division Warri CSP T.Y. Mahmud acting on intelligence gathering and monitoring over a period of time, a serviceable G 3 rifle with No. ET77645 with fifteen (15) rounds of live ammunition was recovered behind uncompleted building used as a worship center at Warri/Sapele road by the garage opposite Wema Bank, suspected to have been hidden by men of the underworld in aid of their nefarious activities. Manhunt for those suspected to have hidden the rifle is ongoing for them to be arrested and brought to book.
7.On 15/3/2021, information got to the police in A division Warri that one suspected armed robber was lynched by irate mob at Mccaiver road warri at about 0200 hours of date.
After due Intelligence gathering by the police, one of the suspects Ola Tuoyo ‘m’ age 25yrs was traced the hospital where he was receiving treatment, he suffered first degree burn, the suspect confessed to be a member of the robbery syndicate that Invaded Mccaiver road that night, and gave the name of the deceased mobbed suspect as Idianmi ‘m’ surname unknown.
The suspect in the hospital is still been closely monitored, though chances of survival is bleak.
