Police Assure Osun Voters Of Peaceful, Secure And Credible Governorship Election…

The Nigeria Police Force has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a peaceful, secure, transparent and credible governorship election in Osun State, assuring residents and all stakeholders of adequate security before, during and after the polls.

The assurance was given following an address by the Commissioner of Police in charge of Elections, Osun State, CP Samuel Erale Etaifo, as part of preparations for the forthcoming governorship election.

Speaking on behalf of the Nigeria Police Force, the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Iniedu, said the Force had put in place comprehensive security arrangements to safeguard the elect comoral process and create a conducive environment for citizens to exercise their constitutional right to vote without fear or intimidation.

CSP Iniedu stressed that police personnel had been deployed across the state to protect voters, electoral officials, National Youth Service Corps members serving as ad hoc electoral personnel, accredited observers, journalists, candidates, political party agents and other stakeholders participating in the election.

He noted that the deployment was designed not only to secure polling units and collation centres but also to prevent acts capable of undermining the integrity of the electoral process, including violence, intimidation, voter harassment and other forms of electoral malpractice.

According to him, the Nigeria Police Force remains fully prepared to respond swiftly and professionally to any security challenge that may arise, while urging all stakeholders to conduct themselves peacefully and within the provisions of the law.

The Force also called on political parties, candidates, supporters and residents of Osun State to shun inflammatory statements, violence, hate speech and other actions capable of disrupting the peace before, during or after the election.

The police reiterated that security personnel deployed for the exercise would operate professionally, impartially and in accordance with the law, with the primary objective of protecting lives and property and ensuring that eligible voters can freely participate in the democratic process.

CSP Iniedu further urged members of the public to cooperate with security agencies by providing timely and credible information on suspicious activities or threats to public safety.

He assured the people of Osun State that the Nigeria Police Force would continue to work closely with other security and relevant government agencies to maintain law and order throughout the electoral period.

The Force emphasised that the success of the election is a collective responsibility, calling on all stakeholders to place the peace and stability of Osun State above partisan interests.

With security personnel already deployed across strategic locations, the police said they remain committed to delivering a safe and orderly electoral environment in which citizens can exercise their franchise without fear.
