Nigerian Army Appoints First Female Spokesperson, Lt. Col. Anele Appolonia • Maj. Gen Onyema Nwachukwu redeploys to Nigerian Army Future Heritage Centre

The Nigerian Army has appointed its first female Director, Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Anele Onyechi Appolonia, though in acting capacity, marking a significant milestone in gender inclusion and representation within the military.
She is a member of the Direct Regular Course 15 and a member of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).

Anele, will be taking over from Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, who was posted to the Nigerian Army Future Heritage Centre, and the appointment takes effect from April 22, 2025.
Anele has served as Public Relations Officer at the office of the Chief of Army Staff office, and until she was appointed the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, she was serving at the Department of Civil-Military Relations (DHQ).
Her appointment showcases her exceptional leadership skills, strategic thinking, and dedication to the Nigerian Army which will inspire younger generations of female officers in the Nigerian Military.
