The Nigeria Customs Service has taken a significant step towards enhancing trade facilitation and financial system integration by engaging with Access Bank.
This development follows the successful deployment of the Unified Customs Management System, codenamed B’odogwu.
In a virtual meeting held recently, the NCS and Access Bank officials discussed ways to align operational frameworks and deepen collaboration.
The meeting led by Deputy Comptroller-General of Customs, Kikelomo Adeola, focused on streamlining payment systems, boosting data exchange, and ensuring real-time processing of trade-related transactions.
DCG Adeola emphasized that B’odogwu marks a new era in Customs administration, transforming operations through unified procedures, automated declarations, and real-time transaction monitoring.
She added that the platform’s full potential can only be unlocked through seamless stakeholder integration.
Olatunbosun Oladunke, Head of Global Trade at Access Bank, commended the NCS’s forward-thinking approach and assured the bank’s support for system compatibility, particularly in trade finance and payment automation.
Olakunle Aderinokun, Head of Media and Public Relations at Access Holdings/Access Bank, highlighted the importance of stakeholder engagement and public awareness in driving the success of the B’odogwu platform.
The collaboration between NCS and Access Bank aims to accelerate the trade modernization agenda through strategic partnerships, transparency, and continuous innovation.
With B’odogwu now operational, the NCS is advancing towards a fully digital, integrated, and globally compliant Customs system that supports Nigeria’s economic aspirations.
