NAOWA President, Mernan Oluyede unveils state-of-the-art school in Yola

In a significant milestone for the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association (NAOWA), the National President, Mrs. Mernan Femi Oluyede, has reaffirmed the importance of education as a catalyst for development, while inaugurating an ultra-modern Nursery and Primary school in Gibson Jalo Cantonment, Yola.
According to Lieutenant Adebayo Samuel Adewumi, Acting Assistant Director Army Public Relations 23 Brigade in a statement said this momentous occasion marks a major achievement for the association, as it continues to prioritize the welfare and well-being of military personnel, their families, and the broader community.
During the commissioning ceremony, Mrs. Oluyede emphasized that education is the bedrock of societal transformation, and a vital tool for unlocking the immense potential within children.
She congratulated the entire barracks community on this achievement and urged the students to seize the golden opportunities provided by the institution, embracing learning with passion and striving relentlessly for excellence.
Represented by the Chairperson NAOWA 3 Division, Mrs. Fibishola Abubakar, commended the remarkable foresight and collaborative efforts of the Coordinator NAOWA 23 Brigade, Mrs. Comfort Zawaya, and thanked the Commander, 23 Brigade, Brigadier General PK Zawaya, for his unwavering support.
In his welcome address, the Commander 23 Brigade, Brigadier General PK Zawaya, highlighted the pivotal role of education in shaping the future of individuals and communities.
He described the school as a beacon of hope, symbolizing a brighter future for the entire community, and expressed profound gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, for his resolute support and provision of necessary resources.
In her remarks, the Zonal Coordinator NAOWA 23 Brigade, Mrs. Comfort Zawaya, also emphasized that education is the foundation upon which every progressive society is built, and implored parents and guardians to prioritize their wards’ education.
The ceremony was attended by senior representatives of Adamawa State’s executive arm, heads of security and paramilitary agencies, staff officers of Headquarters 23 Brigade, and members of various associations.
The highlights of the event included a guided tour of the new facility, presentation of souvenirs, and a commemorative group photograph to mark the historic occasion.
