Hon. Kasunmu Attends NYCN Youth And Governance Symposium, Reaffirms Support For Youth Participation In Governance

The Deputy Majority Leader of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. (Prince) Adedamola Richard Kasunmu (ARK), yesterday attended the Youth and Governance Symposium – Assembly Edition & Unveiling of NYCN Lagos Ward Champions, organized by the Lagos State Chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) under the leadership of Engr. Adigun Ibrahim Olalekan and his team.
The symposium, themed “Building the Future of Governance Through Youth Participation,” brought together key government officials, political leaders, youth stakeholders, and emerging young leaders committed to advancing youth inclusion in governance and public service.
Among the distinguished personalities in attendance were the Deputy Governor of Lagos State and APC 2027 Governorship Candidate for Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat; Senator Idiat Oluranti Adebule; the Deputy Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mojisola Meranda; the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mobolaji Ogunlende; APC Candidate for Kosofe Constituency I, Dr. Muritala Seriki; and his counterpart for Agege Constituency I, Hon. Gbenga Afolabi,(a.k.a Agbelegbu) among several other dignitaries.

The event provided a valuable platform for meaningful conversations on strengthening youth participation in governance, leadership development, public service, and community engagement. It also featured the unveiling of NYCN Lagos Ward Champions, a strategic initiative aimed at deepening youth representation and grassroots mobilization across the state.
Hon. Kasunmu, himself a shining example of youth excellence in governance, commended the Lagos State Chapter of NYCN and the Lagos State Ministry of Youth, Sports and Social Development for organizing the impactful programme.
He described the initiative as a significant step towards nurturing the next generation of leaders and encouraging greater youth participation in governance.
According to the lawmaker, who is also the APC Candidate for Ikeja Constituency II in the 2027 elections, “the future of Lagos and Nigeria depends greatly on how effectively young people are engaged, empowered, and equipped to contribute meaningfully to the development of their communities and the nation at large.”
The symposium stands as another important milestone in the collective effort to promote youth inclusion and strengthen democratic participation.
Hon. (Prince) Adedamola Richard Kasunmu (ARK), who was first elected into the Lagos State House of Assembly at the age of 32 and became Deputy Majority Leader at the age of 40 in 2023, has continued to distinguish himself through impactful representation, youth-focused initiatives, and active engagement with young people across Lagos State.
His journey remains an inspiration to many young Nigerians aspiring to make meaningful contributions in public service and governance.
Also present at the event from the Ikeja NYCN and other youth stakeholders were: Hon. Ayotunde Adenuga, Blessing Omagenafen, Comrade Atitebi Ayodeji, Comrade Jamiu Akangbe, Comrade Ige Akanbi (DJ Money) and many others..
The NYCN 2026 symposium was quite educating and innovative.
