In line with the ‘THEMES’ agenda of Gov. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu for a greater Lagos, the lagos State Government through the Lagos State Primary Health Care Board (LSPHCB) in conjunction with Lagos State Infrastructure Management Agency (LASIAMA) and the various Local Governments involved today flagged off upgrade of three Primary Health Care Centres (PHCs) viz. Mende, Akoka and Abule-Nla. Trek Africa Newspaper can report that the 3 PHCs form part of the twenty (20) PHCs designated and located in the five divisions of the State that has already been approved for upgrade by Mr. Governor.

Speaking at the flag-off ceremony, the Permanent Secretary of Lagos State Primary Health Care Board (LSPHCB), Dr. Ibrahim Akinwunmi Mustafa represented by Pharm. Shakirat Adeosun said that the upgrade of the twenty PHCs across the State would fulfil the Governor’s promise of infrastructure upgrade in the letter ‘H’ of the THEMES agenda which stands for Health and Environment.

The press release of the Deputy Director, Public Affairs, LSPHCB revealed “these upgrades would provide conducive, comfortable and hospitable environment for both the health workers and the patients, as well as, enhancing smooth delivery of health care service to the communities”.

In the same vein, the General Manager of Lagos State Infrastructure Management Agency (LASIAMA), Mrs. Adenike Adekanbi present at all the three flag-off ceremonies opined that LASIAMA as a government agency has been mandated to ensure that all infrastructure upgrades and construction are at par with global standards. She therefore reiterated that the agency is involved in order to ensure that standards are not compromised, while also ensuring the delivery of dividends of Mr. Governor’s promises to Lagos inhabitants and visitors alike. Each PHC upgrade is expected to be completed between three to six months of commencement.

The Local Government Chairmen where the twenty PHCs for upgrading are located promised maximum cooperation with the State Government team, as well as, the contractors. They told Trek Africa Newspaper that, if need be, they would ensure evacuation of the operations of the affected PHC to a nearby one, in order not to create a vacuum within the community. Enumerating the fact that this type of synergy between the various levels of government is what good governance is about.
