Lagos Command Disciplines Osumah Frank, Inspector Identified in Viral Video; Reaffirms Commitment to Professionalism

The Lagos State Police Command has identified the Police inspector featured in a viral video making inappropriate remarks while travelling in public transport and has commenced disciplinary proceedings against him. The Command identified the officer as Inspector Osumah Frank, stressing that the remarks attributed to him were made in his personal capacity and did not represent the official position, views or disposition of either the Lagos Police Command or the Nigeria Police Force.
In a press statement e-signed and released to the National Association of Online Security News Publishers, NAOSNP today Friday, September 25, 2026, by the Lagos PPRO, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said the action was consistent with the Command’s commitment to transparency, accountability and professional policing. According to the statement, the disciplinary process was being conducted in accordance with established regulations of the Nigeria Police Force. The Command said the incident reinforced the importance of ensuring that Police personnel conduct themselves appropriately, particularly when appearing in public, wearing the uniform of the Force.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, reiterated that every Police officer was expected to uphold professionalism, civility, discipline and respect for members of the public at all times. The Commissioner stressed that wearing the Police uniform carried a responsibility to protect the dignity and integrity associated with the institution. “All personnel are expected to maintain professionalism, civility, discipline and respect for members of the public at all times,” the Commissioner said.
He further made clear that the Command would not tolerate conduct capable of damaging the reputation of the Police or weakening public confidence in the institution.
The Command’s position comes amid growing public scrutiny of the conduct of security personnel, particularly when their actions or utterances are captured and circulated widely on social media.
By promptly identifying the officer and initiating disciplinary action, the Command said it was reinforcing its position that accountability applies to its personnel and that individual conduct should not undermine the broader responsibilities of the Police to the public.
