HON. FUNMILAYO AKANDE MUHAMMAD SET TO UNVEIL BOLA TINUBU OFFICE COMPLEX

The business of governance in the Apapa-Iganmu LCDA will take a new and brighter look with the formal commissioning of the Bola  Ahmed Tinubu Office Complex newly constructed by the Executive Chairman of Apapa-Iganmu LCDA, Alhaja Dr. Funmilayo Akande Muhammad.

The new 3-storey office complex which will host administrative activities in the local council will provide a better deal for the good people of Apapa and Iganmu environs as they execute important governmental affairs with the local government authority.

More than that, the council boss is also enhancing the business sphere for the teeming populace by embarking on road construction projects. 400m long Church Street, 141m long Sule close, 231m long Giwa Street, all in Badia are top on the list. Others are 185m long Amusu street, Sari which is 185m long, both sides of the road along Sari street, Sari measuring 330m, and 390m long Makanjuola street, Oke-oja. All road construction are complemented by simultaneous construction of drains.

Speaking at a press conference and facility tour preceding  the one week celebration of the two years in office and commissioning of projects, the woman at the helms of Apapa-Iganmu, Dr. Akande-Muhammad heralded in her own words ‘our modest achievements’ under two years.

‘In the past 2 years, I am glad to inform you that our government has done a lot of masses-oriented programmes since we came on board. We have touched all various sectors especially in the area of youth empowerment, education, work and infrastructure, environment, health, security and social development just to mention few.’

It should be recalled that Dr. Funmilayo constructed a modern library at Ali Dogo Street, Badia. Trek Africa Newspaper can report that the library project commissioned by Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, OON is one that is having huge educational and sociocultural impact on the children and youths in the council. She has also supported the youth with skill acquisition and empowerment programs such as barbing, tailoring, hair styling, makeup, and catering with tools and machines to start artisanal activities immediately.

She added: ‘I want to gladly inform you that we are kick starting activities for second year in office with another free medical mission where sugar level test, breast cancer test, diabetes, blood pressure and other medical checkup will be carried out.’

The council engineer, Femi Osifala was present to share details of the new office complex. ‘The office complex is a four floor building on over 64 piles. The ground floor will accommodate the drivers, the first floor is proposed to be the Chairman’s office, the support staff offices and a conference room, the second floor will accommodate about 6-7 offices such as council manager and council treasurer, while the top floor will accommodate another conference room and two other offices’, he said.

Thereafter, Alhaja Funmilayo Akande-Muhammad entertained questions from the journalists present. On the security issue, she noted that situation is better as a huge conference like this in the past would have ended with looting, fighting and maiming. She was delighted that the ongoing rail project will be enjoyed by the citizens as a road is being constructed to link the rail. She also hailed Hon. Opeifa and his team for the great job of reducing traffic in the area.

Hon. Emmanuel Oputa, the deputy leader of the legislative arm of the LCDA who represented the leader said: ‘She is a blessing to us in Apapa Iganmu. She listens to the yearnings of the people.’
