HON DAYO SAKA FAFUNMI: AN ICON OF HOPE

Hon. Dayo  Saka Fafunmi

By Adekola James Sanmi

What separate great men from ordinary men is not the colour of their skin nor their race, rather, it is their vision and determination not to leave the world the way they met it. Like Shakespeare, they see the world as a centre stage where every man come to have their bid, and after leave. It is the belief of great men that they may not be able to do anything about the length of their lives but they can do something about the width of their lives like Maxwell rightly observed by rendering selfless service to humanity.

Through patriotic service, men and women have built kingdoms, erected empires, and monuments while leaving an enduring legacies in the heart of men and women of their generations and those unborn. In fact, the rise and fall of kingdoms, empires and nations is rooted in the exploits and failings of men and women. While some men acquire leadership for personal aggrandizement and enrichment, few men see such opportunity as a call to service, which must be sacred and diligently use for humanitarian purpose.

Today, I celebrate Hon Dayo Saka Fafunmi for being a touch bearer, a pillar of support, a bridge builder, a promoter of justice, an intellectual per excellence, and a legislator of repute with unparalleled leadership virtues and qualities.

As a touch bearer, Hon Fafunmi has dared where even angels fear to tread through life-changing empowerment projects like the Free School Bus Rides for students of secondary school, Free ICT Training Programme, Free Fashion Training Programme, Free Makeover Training Programme, and Free JAMB (UTME) forms which other leaders have come to emulate.

Saka as most constituents will call him is not just a visionary per excellence, but also a pillar of support, one whose is a beacon of hope for the young and old. It takes a man with a lion heart and an empathic spirit to go out of his ways to meet the needs of almost everyone that knock on his door.

No wonder, he has become a bridge builder for all and sundry in Ifako Ijaiye. This is because his empowerment projects and largesse is always done without any political colouration, ethnic biases, and or religious inclination. I stand to be corrected, Hon Fafunmi is one among many political leaders in Ifako Ijaiye whose fans and supporters cut across all political groups and caucus; besides being a rallying point for all residents within and outside Ifako Ijaiye.

Hon Dayo Fafunmi is also a promoter of justice and selfless leader of no mean repute. If you are looking for one man and a leader who will say it the way it is, without trying to be politically correct, it is Hon Dayo Saka Fafunmi.

Great boss, I cannot but also appreciate your uncommon level of intelligence, brilliancy and shrewdness. In this regards, I celebrate you on the occasion of your birth as a brother, a role model, an exquisite legislator, a visionary leader, and passionate lover of humanity, till I find time and space to fully catalogue your enduring legacies in black and white for generation born and unborn.

HAPPY BRITHDAY SIR!
