The Deputy Governor of Lagos, Dr. Obafemi Kadri Hamzat in his goodwill message as delivered by Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende prayed for the late matriarch. ‘Let me start by saying that Almighty Allah will continue to grant Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji Aljanna. I will also use the same breath to remember all those that have passed away and ask Almighty Allah to grant them forgiveness and give them Aljanna.
This is the second edition of this lecture. We are here to offer special prayers for Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji and also to listen to the lecture today.’

The host of the event, Hon. Adedamola Kasunmu ARK speaking on the relevance of the Lecture said: ‘The idea is to continue to remember the good deeds of our matriarch, Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji who lived an exemplary life of impact which bettered the life of our President, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, myself, and many others. It is good that we honour the Lord Almighty that everything she did as an act of Ibadah will be remembered. If you go to her while alive, you will leave smiling. She lived a life of giving.’

‘The theme of the lecture is in connection to the economic situation of today and of course the Renewed Hope agenda of the President. Within the few months, he has been able to achieve something good. The naira is getting better but the prices of goods are not coming down so this is the area where people have to cooperate with government so that the efforts of government can resonate with the general public. It doesn’t speak well if dollar is coming down and prices of goods are going up.’

Fondly called Hon. ARK, the lawmaker reflected: ‘Nigeria is a land of opportunities. Nigeria is a land of hope. That is why under the leadership of the Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, we always discuss issues that will benefit the life of people directly. This is what we have come to speak about in this lecture so that we can have a resounding future.’

‘As a grandchild of Alhaja Abibatu Mogaji, we have to live that life so that we don’t forget her good deeds. She was a force to be reckoned with. We pray that we will be able to do more than the first 2 years. That’s why I seek support from others whom she has impacted for more editions’, Kasunmu urged.

On his part, the Commissioner for Youth Development and Social Development, Hon Mobolaji Ogunlende emphasized the importance of the lecture, ‘The message is very simple. It is what every citizen should adhere to. We have to become good citizens, be our brother’s keeper and do the right thing. This will make us to live together as a community. We can then talk about development of our state and country Nigeria.’

Speaking on the topic of the lecture, the Imam of Lagos State Secretariat Mosque, Imam Hakeem Kosoko, noted: ‘What is happening in Nigeria is happening all over the world. But we have to localize our own and seek local solutions. The government is trying. The Lagos State Government is selling goods at reduced price. The President through myself have fed more than 10000 households in this Ramadan.’

‘My message at Ramadan is that Nigerians should look within themselves and create a better version of yourself, future, family, and country. I appeal to players in the economy to be kind enough and mindful of people. They have to adjust their prices. Their kindness will make them loved.’

‘Food is now plenty in the country with the intervention in agriculture but the prices are not yet there so the individual players in the economy should be kind to people. Everything should not be put at the doorstep of the government so that we can achieve economic prosperity’, the Imam concluded.
