FIRST LADY, SEN. OLUREMI TINUBU ASSURES OF COMMITMENT TO BREAKING SHACKLES OF POVERTY • As she celebrates June 12 Democracy Day

The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu OON has said that the June 12 Democracy Day being celebrated nationwide signalled total freedom for all Nigerians. She made this known as some youths and women completed 3-Day Training programme facilitated by her in conjunction with the Industrial Arbitration Panel. She added that the skills programme means economic freedom to the participants as they can now become self reliant.
Represented by LASUBEB Chairman, Hon Wahab Alawiye-King at the event held at the Lagos City Centre in Lagos Island, the First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu said Nigerians will enjoy the benefit of the struggle that late MKO Abiola died for in the administration led by her husband, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Trek Africa Newspaper can report that the First Lady described her 12 years in the Senate as eventful, challenging and very resourceful. She added that she remain committed to liberate Nigerian women from shackles of poverty.
The APC Chairman in Lagos Island, Alhaji Ganiyu Sadiq said the beneficiaries should not abandon what they learnt from the Training urging them to use it to empower themselves economically.

On his part, the Chairman Lagos Island East LCDA, Hon Alade Folawiyo urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the opportunity in order to contribute their quota to the growth of the nation’s economy.
The council Chairman also extended appreciation to the Instructors at the training for commiting their time to impacting knowledge on others. Hon. Folawiyo urged the First Lady to replicate similar empowerment programme enjoyed by residents of Lagos Central Senatorial District nationwide for the benefit of the poor and less privileged.
According to him, the event coinciding with the Democracy Day means a lot to the people of the area.

He further said that Lagos Island had history with the Democracy Day been the location late MKO Abiola made the famous Epetedo declaration after the June 12 was annulled.
Hon Alade also applauded President Bola Tinubu for hitting the ground running from day one saying decisions he had taken so far demonstrates his readiness to render selfless service the country.
Trek Africa Newspaper can report that the Representative of the Industrial Arbitration Panel, Hassan Usman expressed delight with the full implementation of the Training programme. He said the beneficiaries should feel highly honored since there were many other Nigerians who do not have such opportunity while urging them share the knowledge with people around them.

The council boss believes such initiative will ensure a peaceful society if majority of the people are trained to fend for themselves.
Responding on behalf of hundred beneficiaries trained in Confectionery, Photography and Cosmetology, Omoleye Abraham Oladimeji and Bello Olayemi thanked the First Lady for the opportunity assuring that they will not take it for granted.
A minute silence was observed in honor of late Chief MKO Abiola, the winner of the annulled June 12, 1993 Presidential Election at the event.
