Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene, President, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos.

The giant strides of Solomon Ogbonna as a culture icon and pan-Africanist has again come to the fore even as the Igbo leader added a year recently. And he has promised to leave no stone unturned in his office as the President of the socio-cultural Ohanaeze in Lagos.

Among other landmark achievements, whenever the young and old passes through the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos secretariat located at James Robertson street in Surulere, it is a testament to the revolutionary character of Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene as President of the socio-cultural organization in two years. Many Igbo leaders have said that Ohanaeze did not formerly have an address but Chief  Solomon Ogbonna has made Ohanaeze Ndigbo Lagos an institution with an address. The Igbo men and women in Lagos can only expect more!

The man has also being a firm believer and has spoken unequivocally that Igbos must live in harmony with host communities wherever they find themselves. While it is rare for anyone to disagree with Igbos’ dominance in trade and commerce, Chief Solomon Ogbonna wants his kinsmen to understand the importance of peaceful coexistence to economic progress. Hence, he has used every opportunity to speak out on the need for harmony. He said: ‘The Ohanaeze Ndigbo has enjoyed goodwill. We have built cordial relationship with Igbo elites, and have a good relationship with the Lagos State Government. This has been a catalyst for peaceful coexistence among Ndigbo and the host, particularly the Yorubas.’

The bridge builder used his birthday to appreciate the man he regards as a ‘true born again Christian’, the Governor of Lagos state, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-olu for his peace-loving and progressive roles which has endeared people of all ethnicity including the Igbos to his administration.

Happy Birthday Culture Icon,
Happy Birthday, Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene.
