The Oyo State Police Command on Sunday confirmed the arrest of four suspects and the killing of two others linked to the kidnapping of Busayo Adegoke John-Paul, younger sister of former Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, and her twin sons in Ibadan.
State Commissioner of Police Oluwagbemiga Abimbola told journalists that the arrests followed a tip-off that led police to a three-bedroom bungalow in Ayegun, Oluyole Local Government Area, where the victims were being held. Firearms, including a pump-action gun, were recovered.
“Following intelligence received, our officers conducted a successful operation that resulted in the rescue of the victims and the arrest of four suspects,” Abimbola said, adding that two other suspects were killed during a midnight shootout. Additional suspects reportedly escaped with gunshot injuries.

The abductors had trailed the victims’ vehicle from their home and stopped them at Elewura-Challenge in Ibadan South-West Local Government Area on Wednesday, around 7:30 a.m., before taking them hostage.
The confirmation comes days after the high-profile rescue operation that drew national attention, highlighting the police’s swift response in a politically sensitive case involving a 2027 APC governorship aspirant’s family.
Police said investigations continue, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining members of the gang.
