At least 23 persons have been confirmed dead and 108 others injured following multiple explosions that rocked Maiduguri on Monday evening.
The Nigeria Police Force in Borno State disclosed the casualty figures on Tuesday, attributing the attacks to suspected suicide bombers.
According to the command’s spokesperson, Nahum Daso, the coordinated attacks occurred at about 7:24 p.m. and involved the use of improvised explosive devices (IEDs).
Preliminary investigations revealed that the blasts targeted crowded and strategic locations, including the Maiduguri Central Market, popularly known as Monday Market, the gate of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, and the Post Office Flyover area.
Security agencies swiftly responded to the incident, deploying a joint team of police tactical units, military personnel, and other security operatives to the affected sites.
