Other dignitaries present are the white cap chiefs representing the Oba of Lagos, Oba Akiolu; representatives of the various Obas in the Lagos Central senatorial district; Baales; LGA/LCDA chairmen and their wives; former chairmen and their wives; and party leaders across all the wards and LGAs/LCDAs in the senatorial district.

Addressing the stakeholders and everyone gathered at the occasion, Senator Oluremi Shade Tinubu OON said: ‘Because of COVID, we couldn’t hold town hall meetings, so I was thinking what can we do before we hit the campaign trail to say thank you to people who have given me 12 years of trust, support, and love. I learned this from my husband when he finished his tenure as Governor, he gave a stewardship report.’

‘I thank God for the mercies to make me succeed. After 11 years when I threw my hat into the ring, we come with bills and motions to support Lagos, to protect women, update Labour laws, law enforcement laws, and protect our environment, and tens of projects across the district I have enjoyed a great deal of cooperation and support which has enabled me to deliver for the progress of our people in Lagos central senatorial district. I like to thank you all for creating harmonious condition which has enabled me to give my best as your representative in the Senate. I don’t take it for granted, they have been there for me from Day 1. So I want to say thank you for what we have achieved as a district and as a political family. Our work is in form of unison which has pushed the district forward. I can never forget this. It’s been a good ride. It wouldn’t have been easy without God and them’, Trek Africa Newspaper gathered.

‘The constant thing in life is change. Everything must come to an end and my tenure is not different. I stand here with mixed feelings – feelings of gratitude for the lives we have touched, hope for the future and the presidential ambition of my dear husband Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and a feeling of wistfulness realizing that this is the last time I will present my stewardship report as Senator of Lagos central.

Representing you is a great honour. I came to you as a former First Lady and I will leave as a ranking Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. This is a feat that no one else has achieved. To the glory of God, it has had profound effect on me as a humanitarian, politician, and I have gained a lifetime worth of experience and learned valuable lessons as a senator, I will take every single memory with me’, Sen. Tinubu said.

On Wasiu Eshinlokun Sanni who is the APC senatorial candidate for the Lagos Central senatorial district, Senator Oluremi Tinubu noted: ‘When I started he was the Chairman of Lagos Island LGA and I can remember that when we started the Baale Christmas programme, the chairmen were the ones who drive the idea, I just buy the things that we want to give them. So every programme that I have done, he is always been there. He has learned the ropes, he is a generous person, we have been through together, and I tell the people not to put him under pressure, I think he will do well.’

Praising the giant strides of the Senator, the APC leader in Lagos Central senatorial district and member of GAC, Prince Tajudeen Olusi remarked: ‘I remember my late maternal uncle used to be an Islamic preacher and he will usually sing that when you are in joy, you should thank God. I can also remember an hymn which says ‘O God our help in ages past’, so we thank God for everything and others ahead of us, God will do it.’

‘Even as we rejoice, we should bring lessons that God does reward those who do good for humanity. God has rewarded our Senator Oluremi Tinubu, we should advise our children on service to humanity. She is a teacher and by the training of a teacher, you must be able to accommodate people and that is very necessary for anybody who wants to enter the arena of politics’, Trek Africa Newspaper can report.

The Deputy Speaker of Lagos House of Assembly and APC senatorial candidate of Lagos Central senatorial district, Hon. Wasiu Eshinlokun Sanni said that Senator Oluremi Tinubu OON is a senator like no other. ‘She doesn’t take us for granted. She served us wholeheartedly – maternity centres, lockup shops, building of schools, GCE forms, JAMB forms, she has done a lot. We hold her in high esteem. If I am elected, my plan is simple – to continue what the Senator Oluremi Tinubu OON is doing for the people. We have never had it better at that level of representation. Having heard from her report of stewardship, I believe that if we continue, God will continually bless our people in the Lagos central senatorial district.’

Canvassing support for the presidential ambition of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Hon. Eshinlokun Sanni said: ‘For those of us in Lagos, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu becoming president is non-negotiable.

Having seen what he has done in Lagos we know that there is a lot to gain for Nigeria. From the dirtiest city in 1999 to the 5th largest economy in Africa, we think that Lagos is only an experimental lab. He is passionate, committed, reliable, and a transformative leader. We can’t go wrong with him’, he told Trek Africa Newspaper.

In the same vein, the APC Chairman in Lagos, Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi praised Senator Oluremi Tinubu: ‘For what she has done in our senatorial district, and by extension, Lagos, on behalf of our party I must say I am delighted to be part of what you are doing today standing before the people that gave her the mandate. She started very well and hit many firsts.’

On her part, the wife of Lagos State Governor, Dr. Mrs. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu eulogized Senator Oluremi Tinubu as a force to reckon with. ‘She is a mother. She’s been through thick and thin. Her account of stewardship is something to emulate. She does it quarterly, this shows that if we find ourselves in a position of authority, we should give account to our people.’

Hon Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi

‘She has done so much and the stakes are so high now. I pray I will also be able to do something similar, she has encouraged us. She has encouraged women and youths. I look at how she gathered 5000 children for 10 years for MYFI, she gave them exposure. Most women because of culture don’t speak out but because of her, many are speaking out using their academic sense, street sense, and village sense. She was able to bring the intellect out of many women.’

The CAN Chairman, Revd. Stephen Adegbite noted about Senator Oluremi Tinubu: ‘We are here because she has delivered. She is a trailblazer, a stabilizer, a prayer warrior, a wonderful personality, somebody that is rugged and we can rely on. She is a woman of courage, strength and support to Asiwaju. She has done well by His grace in Lagos central senatorial district, God will reward her abundantly.’
