100 Librarians’ Students To Benefit From Chinese Overseas Training

Chinese Government Representative addressing Librarian Leaders in Monrovia, Libraria

About 100 students from the Monrovia Vocational Training Center (MVTC) are to benefit from the China-Aid Overseas Vocational and Skills Training Program for Liberian Youths 2018, through the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

The content of the training includes building structure design and construction, electrical automation and the car repair, with courses which involve building structures and engineering surveying.

Speaking on Monday at the MVTC campus during the opening of the training program organized by the Embassy of China, Chinese Ambassador to Liberia, Fu Jijun, urged the students to cooperate closely with instructors in ensuring a successful training mission in Liberia.
Amb. Fu noted that the history of the world has shown that human resources play a very important role in the development and prosperity of a nation.

The Chinese diplomat added: “I believe that this is the reason why President George Weah said his government will give power to the people; the first pillar of the Pro-Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development.”

He applauded Vice President Jewel Howard-Taylor for attaching great importance to the human resource development of Liberia, youth and women education and training, in particular.

According to him, human resource development is also a significant field of China-Liberia collaboration, noting that China is willing to share its experience with African countries, including Liberia, and extend its help to Liberian friends to achieve their development and prosperity dream.

Fu explained that this effort is part of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s statement to provide Africa with 50,000 government scholarships and 50,000 training opportunities for seminars, workshops and training when he addressed the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation held in Beijing and attended by President Weah last September.

He assured the Liberian government that in the future, China will provide more scholarships and training opportunities to Liberians, and support the government to achieve its glory vision in the Pro-Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development dream.

Chinese envoy Fu thanked China’s Liberian friends who have contributed their efforts to ensure that the training courses get to a smooth start.
