We’ll Preserve Our Rich Cultural Heritage For Posterity – Gov Sani Bello

Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State has said that his administration would commit resources to preserve the rich cultural heritage of the various ethnic nationalities in the state.
He noted that culture was an important part of a people which distinguishes and sets a people apart from another adding that though there were no people without culture and traditions, the beauty in culture and tradition differentiates one group from the others.
The governor assured that his governmernt would collaborate with the traditional institution in the state to package and document the sights and sound of the plethora of cultural practices and tradition of the various ethnic groups in the state to serve as compendium of heritage as reference material.
He spoke on Wednesday while receiving the Emir of Minna, Alhaji Umar Farouk Bahago and his emirate council chieftains who were in the Government House on traditional sallah homage.
The governor reechoed the critical role culture and tradition plays in history and socio economic life of people even as he noted that cultural heritage was very important to the growth and development of any society.
He noted that the traditional institution has a crucial role to play in nation building and particularly in the maintenance and enhancing peaceful coexistence of all citizens.
Governor Sani Bello urged the traditional institution in the state to continue to serve as strong hold on their subjects.
He however complained over the mass influx of unknown persons from neighbouring states and urged the royal fathers to ensure that people within their domains were well profiled.
He asked traditional rulers in the state to be more security conscious and ensure that no criminal elements were allowed safe abodes within their domains.
Earlier, the Ermir of Minna had axplained that the traditional sallah homage to the governor was part of the traditional sallah greetings to demonstrate respect for, and felicitate with the governor for a successful completion of the Ramadan fast and to celebrate the Eid el Fitr with him.
The monarch enjoined the people of his emirate to cooperate with the administration of governor Sani Bello and give their maximum support to enable the administration succeed.
He pleaded with the governor to deliver more dividend of democracy to people across all divides in the state.
