War Against Drug Menace: Nigeria Academy of Pharmacy Wants More Government Involvement

The Nigeria Academy of Pharmacy has charged the Federal Government and other relevant agencies to join hands with the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria in its bid to rid Nigeria of drug menace and uphold high moral standard for the betterment of the nation.

President of Pharmaceutical Society Of Nigeria, Dr. Sam Ohuabunwa, stated this at the Press conference organised by the coalition set up by the Academy in collaboration with Pharmaceutical society of Nigeria, held in Lagos.

According to the President, drug abuse is a self – destructive indulgence that has led to significant problems and distress, which has suddenly assumed an alarming rate among youths in Nigeria and could get worse if appropriate steps are not taken.

Earlier, Chairman, Drug and Substance Abuse Committee of the Nigeria Academy of Pharmacy, Dr Lolu Ojo, noted the devastating effects and threats of drug abuse to humanity, saying this has taken its toll on the physical, mental, emotional, physiological and social status of the users.

He appealed to parents to bring up their children and wards in the fear of God and engrain in them high moral standard.
