The Administrative and Finance Committee of the West African Examinations Council WAEC Nigeria has passed a formal vote of confidence on the Head of National Office, Dr. Amos Josiah Dangut, commending his leadership amid ongoing union-related concerns within the Council. The endorsement came at the Committee’s 240th Meeting held in Ibadan, Oyo State, where members expressed “full confidence” in the management of WAEC Nigeria under Dr. Dangut’s leadership. This was made available to Trek Africa Newspaper in a press statement e-signed and released by the Acting Head of Public Affairs, Mrs. Moyosola F. Adesina, today Wednesday in Lagos.

The Committee, described as the Council’s highest advisory body on administrative and financial matters in Nigeria, praised the management team for what it called “exemplary leadership, operational efficiency and institutional discipline,” especially in ensuring the seamless conduct of the ongoing 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates.

According to the Committee, the Nigeria National Office has continued to sustain smooth and uninterrupted examination processes across the country despite recent labour-related tensions. Following a comprehensive review of operations, the Committee noted that management’s handling of administrative responsibilities and staff engagement reflected “professionalism, strategic focus, and a strong commitment to WAEC’s core values.”

In its formal resolution, the Committee reaffirmed its support for Dr. Dangut and his team, expressing confidence in their capacity to continue advancing the Council’s mandate effectively. It also warned against actions capable of undermining the Council’s institutional integrity and long-standing reputation.

The Committee further reassured candidates, parents, Ministries of Education, and other stakeholders that WAEC’s operations nationwide “remain stable, seamless, and fully on course.”

It reiterated the Council’s commitment to transparency, staff welfare, and the maintenance of a peaceful working environment.
