In consonance with the Nigerian Constitution, the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government. The recent military crisis in Sudan between the forces of two rival Army Generals which erupted on 15th April 2023 has claimed over 300 lives in north-eastern Africa, Sudan. Hence, the Airpeace Airline Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Allen Onyema has taken a bold step by volunteering to help the Federal Government of Nigeria bring back her citizens stranded in the heat of the crisis back home at a no cost-charge on her flights, provided they are moved to nearest country where they can be airborne safely.

The APC National Youth Leader, Hon. Dayo Israel has commended the Airpeace Chairman, Mr. Allen Onyema for his initiative to bring back Nigerians who were stranded in the country for free with his Airline. The initiative has been applauded by many Nigerians because the Sudan Military unrest has led to the destruction of properties and loss of lives. It has also called for critical attention by the international community with Nigeria not left behind.

The statement released and signed by the Senior Special Assistant to the APC National Youth leader on Public Affairs, Mr. Tunde Rufai noted: “I wish Nigerians living in Sudan at this crucial period when the country is in turmoil, comfort, courage, peace and safety. I want to state this categorically that the All Progressives Congress National Youth Leader, Hon. Dayo Israel has contacted various relevant authorities to ensure the safety and prompt evacuation of Nigerians in Sudan, he equally offered himself for voluntary humanitarian service to ensure all evacuation and rehabilitation processes are seamless due to the psychological trauma they might have gone through. The prayers of over 200million Nigerians are with all nationals resident in Sudan as we hope that the 72 hours ceasefire deal will lead to permanent solution to the crisis.”

“Hon. Dayo Israel once again commended the great and illustrious Nigerian, Mr. Allen Onyema for volunteering his airline to evacuate Nigerians trapped in Sudan back home for free, as their safety remains sacrosanct and paramount to the Government of APC. This great sacrifice by Airpeace Airline will forever be appreciated as he has proven over time to be a great humanitarian and pan-Nigerian who has carved a niche for himself globally. No Nigerian anywhere in the world is deserving of going through excruciating pains and inhumane psychological trauma.”

Meanwhile, the APC National Youth Leader has called on the Foreign Affairs Ministry, National Emergency Management Authority (NEMA) and Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) to utilize the 72 hours ceasefire to move Nigerians in Sudan to a safe-haven where they can be airlifted to home safely.
