United Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bayelsa State council, has call for the immediate and unconditional release of Mr. Julius Osahon, the State correspondent of Guardian newspapers and others who were kidnapped on their way to Delta State.

A statement by the Chairman of UCC, Comrade Akam James, and Secretary, Comrade Chris Mark, also called for the collaboration of Security agencies in Delta and Bayelsa State to ensure those kidnapped in the Sunday ill-fated bus return to their family unhurt.

The statement calls on community leaders in the Ughelli axis were the criminal act was carried out to assist security agencies with information that will lead to the arrest of these dare devils operating in that area.

It was gathered that armed men suspected to be Kidnappers attacked a Sunny Eru bus that left Yenagoa for Warri and the bus was intercepted along the Patani axis of the East- West Road by the suspected kidnappers, abducting the Guardian reporter along side others onboard the vehicle.

The statement further advised the suspected kidnappers to understand that journalists are not money spinners who would dole out millions of naira for ransom, enjoining Osahon’s abductors to therefore release him accordingly.

Meanwhile, there are indications that hoodlums are demanding a ransom of N5 million for the release of the journalist who had already spent two nights in the hands of his abductors.
