Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode has announced the death of his special assistant, Ndifreke Saviour Mark, who had been with him for 34 years. Fani-Kayode shared that Mark collapsed and died while at a hotel with an undisclosed individual.

The incident occurred on Sunday, October 13, 2024, in the Garki area of Abuja. In a social media post, Fani-Kayode explained that Mark left home at 5:40 AM for morning Mass, as he was a devoted Catholic. After attending the service, he went to Mildy Lodge and Apartments, where he reportedly slumped in the presence of the individual he was with.

According to Fani-Kayode, both the individual and the hotel receptionist have been arrested by the Nigerian police. He stated, “It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my devoted Special Assistant, Mr. Ndifreke Saviour Mark.”

Fani-Kayode detailed that Mark was pronounced dead at Asokoro District Hospital after being transported there. He has requested a full criminal investigation and an autopsy to determine the circumstances surrounding Mark’s death.

The police have detained the hotel receptionist and questioned the hotel manager and owner. The hotel has been sealed off for two days, and the room where Mark stayed remains sealed.

“I have broken the sad news to his family and assured them of my support during this difficult time,” Fani-Kayode said. He expressed profound grief over Mark’s passing, describing him as like a son and emphasizing their shared dreams and struggles. “I give thanks to God for his life and the 52 years he spent on earth,” he added.
