The Tony Elumelu Foundation on Friday advised residents of Taraba with good business ideas to apply for support from the foundation to enable them actualise their dreams.
The chairman of the foundation, Mr Tony Elumelu, disclosed this through a live-streaming Facebook interaction with prospective applicants in Jalingo.
Elumelu said that the foundation had earmarked $100 million to empower people with good business ideas across the 54 countries of Africa.
The chairman explained that government alone would not be able to tackle the challenges of poverty and hunger on the continent.
“The foundation believes that a good business idea can change the story of Africa for the better.
“That is why the foundation is doing everything possible to ensure that no such idea is allowed to die,’’ he said.
Elumelu said the world’s richest people today were direct outcome of good business ideas.
He cited Bill Gate’s Microsoft which had grown to be richer than the entire African economy.
“With the right financial support and mentorship, we can produce people like Bill Gates in Taraba,” he added.
The chairman explained that each successful applicant in the state would be supported with $10,000 and would be trained by the foundation for efficiency.
Elumelu said interested persons should apply online from now till March 2018.
