The crisis within the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) may be nearing its peak, even as the party’s National leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and the Chairman, Adams Oshiomole threaten to quit the party.

Trek Africa reliably gathered that the two APC chieftains, at a recent meeting with President Mohammadu Buhari over the crisis rocking the party in Ogun state insisted they would leave the party should Governor Ibikunle Amosun be accommodated in the plans towards the 2019 elections.

According to Trek Africa source, President Buhari was favourably disposed to Amosun having his way by allowing his Candidate get the party’s gubernatorial ticket to contest the 2019 election against Dapo Abiodun, the Tinubu and Oshiomole favoured candidate.

Informed sources revealed that when Tinubu and Oshiomole read Buhari’s body language and discovered that he was ready to allow his disciple, Amosun, believed to be the closest to him in the southwest, have his way against the scheming of Tinubu and Oshiomole to install Dapo Abiodun, the two called for a meeting with the President.

At the meeting, it was gathered, Tinubu and Oshiomole opened up to the President that they won’t have anything to do with Amosun any longer adding that, should the President insist Amosun’s candidate get the gubernatorial ticket over Dapo Abiodun, they will rather leave the party for him and Amosun.

At that point, our source further mentioned, The President had a rethink and told Amosun that he couldn’t do anything to help his situation.

It was gathered that The President opened up to Amosun and confessed to him on why he couldn’t help his situation.

The development further heated up the already hot atmosphere in the party leading to Amosun instructing his followers to move to the APM where his candidate is expected to eventually contest the gubernatorial election.

The reality of the Tinubu and Oshiomole threat did not dawn on Amosun until Friday when he discovered that he was completely left out of the APC campaign structure.

This discovery, it was also gathered, heightened the tension in the party, especially in the Southwest as sources disclosed that some elements believed to be close to Amosun were also stylishly left out of the structure with some nominations made to spite those sympathetic to his course.

For instance, it is believed that among sundry others, the nomination of Sola Oke (SAN) in the Southwest Campaign structure was instigated by Tinubu to spite the Ondo state Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu an ally of Amosun, though his nomination was officially anchored on the prevention of his impending movement out of the party.

Sources informed that Tinubu was actively involved in the selection of names that made the campaign nomination list released by the Presidency at the weekend, hence the obvious removal of some influential names, especially in the Southwest.
