With the theme, the African Woman, Her Imprint on Governance and Health, the keynote speaker, Mr. Adamu Garba paid glowing tribute to African women who achieve great strides in spite of daunting challenges she faces on a daily basis. He particularly stated that his mother was a strong support for him growing up and even as he rises in his business and political career. He believes African woman has all it takes to attain success like her counterpart in the developed nations with education, health and other growth opportunities.
Mr. Oki Samson, the organizer of the event and publisher Trek Africa Magazine, disclosed in his welcome speech that the theme of the event “The African Woman, Her imprint on Governance and Health” was chosen to put on the front burner the efforts and challenges of the feminine gender as she takes her deserved role in governance and healthcare of motherland Africa. He explained that it is no news that there are fewer women in corporate and political position in the African society when compared to men, and charged women like Barack Obama recently encouraged African women to get more involved in politics. He believes like the former President that we can no longer pretend that politics doesn’t matter. It matters and women must get involved!
