The Inspector General of Police, IGP Alkali Usman Baba has conferred a special honour on statesman and industrialist, the Odole Oodua, Chief Kessington Adebutu at the closing ceremony of the 2-day conference of Senior Police Officers which held in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state. The award given is predicated upon the unrivaled commitment of the High Chief of the Source Ile-Ife to matters of national safety and security, peace and national development.

The letter conveying the notification of the award to Baba Ijebu remarked: ‘Sir, your passion for local content advocacy, entrepreneurship and commitment to youth employment and development have greatly assisted in extracting many Nigerian Youths from the streets and the path of crime for a positive and useful endeavors. Your nomination therefore, for the Special Award is premised on your well-acknowledged position as an industrialist, statesman, nationalist and highly respected friend of the Nigeria Police Force.

Although the Chairman of Premier Lotto, Sir Adebutu couldn’t be present physically at the event, the award was received on his behalf by Aare Kola Oyefeso. Aare Oyefeso extended the gratitude of the honoree to the Nigeria Police under the leadership of IGP Usman Alkali Baba. The Governor of Akwa Ibom state, Udom Emmanuel also bagged a special leadership award from the Nigeria Police.

Dignitaries present at the Police retreat and gala night are the Chairman of Nigeria Governors Forum/Governor of Ekiti State, Dr Kayode Fayemi. Others are Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Maigari Dingyadi, Chairman Senate Committee on Police Affairs, Sen. Haliru Jika, Chairman House Committee on Police Affairs, Hon. Hon. Bello Kumo, Board Member of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, LSSTF, Dr Ayo Ogunsan, the Interim Administrator of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Mr Effiong Okon Akwa, among others.

The 2nd annual conference of the NPF Senior Officers and the Gala/Award night is a further demonstration of IGP Baba as he drives the vision to positively change the narratives of policing in the country.

 

The Gala Night was a colorful moments that featured presentation of Distinguish Service Awards by the IGP to critical partners of the Police Force; Premier Loto, BUA Group, Innoson Group, The Interim Administrator of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Mr Effiong Okon Akwa and Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel.
