In his characteristic attitude of meeting the needs of individuals and reaching out to the society, Sir Kessington Adebukunola Adebutu today donated four ambulance buses – one each – to four states in Southwest Nigeria. Ever since the COVID-19 outbreak in Nigeria, the contributions of the philanthropist extraordinaire to societal development has become a regular occurrence. His 300 million naira donation to Lagos state, 100 million naira donation to Ogun state, and 25 million naira donation to Ekiti state, he has matched with donation of four ambulance buses to Oyo, Osun, Ondo and Ekiti states.

Kessington Adebutu, Aare Kola Oyefeso at the Premier Lotto”s Office in Lagos.

Speaking at the ambulance presentation, the media consultant to the lottery merchant, Aare Kola Oyefeso said: ‘This is an extension of the philanthropic gestures that Sir Kessington Adebukunola Adebutu has been doing ever since this COVID-19 pandemic started.’

In addition to what he is doing for the states, Sir Adebutu a.k.a. Baba Ijebu impacts various communities. Aare Oyefeso furthered: ‘He has been donating far and wide. To Surulere community, Ajegunle community, Remo community comprising 33 towns, the Christian community like the Anglican and Methodist Church, and the Muslim community. So this is just an extension of what he is reputed for, that is, giving out to people and making life better for humanity.’

On whether he will show the same gesture to states in other parts of the federation, the distinguished publicist said: ‘he is likely to extend the same gesture to other parts of the country. His nickname is ‘consider it done’ because he doesn’t know how to refuse anybody. Once they make overtures to him, definitely he will do answer in the positive’.

On his part, the Chairman of Biscon Communications, Bisi Olatilo pleaded with the media professionals to support the fight against COVID-19, ‘I plead with my colleagues in the media to let us do our bit. Sir Kessington Adebukunola Adebutu has done his bit and God will continually bless his family and business. Let’s also do our bit as contribution to stem the spread of this hydra-headed disease. And I am sure that our prayers will ward it off.’

‘The purpose of the lockdown ab initio,’ Aare Kola Oyefeso advised the public ‘is to reduce the number of people that will get to the hospital, and to allow the government put in place necessary infrastructure to treat those that will be infected. Now I plead with the populace not to take the easing of the lockdown as the end of the pandemic as this can overwhelm us. The press should go about selling the idea that the pandemic is real and the only way out is to see the other person as a patient and be careful. It only takes one person to be infected and the whole house is infected.’

‘When you listen to radio and television, government has consistently issued out bulletin on how to guide against the disease. Wearing of masks, washing of hands constantly every 30 minutes, and you live well. If you are able to do that, leave everything to God. Someone asked Prophet Muhammad SAW that if God is going to take care of his camel, why must he bother to tie its legs. The Prophet responded that he should tie the legs of the camel first before expecting God to do something. So we must do our own bit before even praying because God can only crown your efforts. If there are no efforts, there is nothing for God to crown.’
Representatives of the state governments who attended the ambulance presentation expressed their profound gratitude to the ‘Philanthropist Extraordinaire’, Sir Adebunkunola Adebutu for his kind gesture. ‘On behalf of the Ekiti state government, I want to say thank you to Sir Adebutu for this great gesture. It will go a long way to support the state’s fight against COVID-19’, Mr. Tolu Falayi said. Mr. Kayode Falowo gave thanks on behalf of the government and people of Ondo state, saying ‘Sir Adebutu has always been known for his philanthropy but this is particularly touching as it relates to the health of the people. For him to have this thought he has gone to great length not just to Ondo but other states.’ Cecilia Akintomide who is a member of the Ondo State COVID-19 response task force added that ‘the Infectious Diseases Hospital is in Akure. This ambulance is particularly important to us as not all the cases are in Akure so having this ambulance will help us move patients to the hospital without spreading the virus. We are very grateful to Kessington Adebukunola Adebutu Foundation’.
