The Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Owan Enoh has expressed the determination of the ministry to revamp the athlete’s hostel project abandoned to rot within the expansive grounds of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium. The Minister who made this declaration today during his tour of facilities within the National Stadium complex stated that it was unacceptable that the athlete’s hostel should be in such a sorry state.

He said,” The ministry under my leadership will do all that it can to make the hostel functional. The welfare of the athletes is very critical to our winning medals and achieving set goals and objectives.”

Senator Enoh maintained that to effectively coordinate the activities of the ministry, he will operate from the office within the stadium complex adding that he needs to be where the action is.

He directed the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Ismaila Abubakar to ensure that all the departments of the ministry relocate and operate from the stadium. The facilities toured by the Minister, the Permanent Secretary and top functionaries of the Ministry include the Main Bowl of the National Stadium, the Velodrome, the Power Technical building, the Sports Medicine Facility, and the 200 Rooms hostel among others.
