For Senator Oluremi Shade Tinubu, OON, skill acquisition and social empowerment programmes are fundamental to harnessing the potentials of youths in order to make them productive members of the society.

This is why these programmes formed a critical thrust of her 12 years of representation of the good people of Lagos Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly. There is arguably no other Senator among the 109 senators in Nigeria who comes close to her success rate.

In 12 years, Trek Africa Newspaper can report that over 6000 youths were skilled across different skill categories like cosmetology and skincare, photography, fishery, confectionery, and many more.

The empowerment doesn’t end at mere skill acquisition. She bankrolls the beneficiaries with startup kits and startup funds to get a headstart in the world of entrepreneurship. Many of these people have gone ahead to become employers of labour. Many observed that this is a sign of good things to come for the nation Nigeria.

In her speech signaling the close of her most recent three (3) day skill acquisition programme for 320 youths in Lagos Central Senatorial District, Senator Oluremi Tinubu OON who was represented by Hon. Wahab Alawiye-King disclosed: ‘This programme is facilitated by the National Productivity Centre Abuja. I am highly delighted to see the faces of those who have participated in this program which will make them acquire skills that will enable them become self-sufficient and productive members of our community.’

‘It is our hope that this will enable you become entrepreneurs, gain meaningful employment, and contribute to the society. I congratulate all of you for the hardwork, dedication, and commitment to this program. You have demonstrated willingness to improve yourself. I will continue to bring platforms that will enable young people to achieve their goals. Put your acquired skills into good use and seize opportunities’, Sen. Tinubu shared.
