SDP Presidential Flagbearer Assures Ijaw Nation Of Inclusive Governance

The Social Democratic Party Presidential Flagbearer, Prince Adewale Adebayo has assured the Ijaw Nation Of his commitment to address the issues bedeviling the Ijaw Nation and the Niger Delta when elected into office as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The SDP Presidential hopeful gave the assurance at the IzonWari in Yenagoa while on a consultative town hall meeting with Izon National Congress.

Prince Adebayo Adewale popularly known as AA said he is conversant with the interest and agitation of the Ijaw Nation over the years with its strategy of justice and truth to diverse issues bedeviling the country.

The SDP Presidential Flagbearer said the issues presented by leaders of the Ijaw Nation will not cost him and Nigeria any money to address but only requires truth and justice to give the Ijaws a sense of belonging in the country.

The SDP Presidential Flagbearer said when he is elected, he will not distance himself from the people and promised to consult widely to address the issues agitating the Ijaw Nation while promising to unify the Niger Delta saying that a polarized Niger Delta is the bane of development of the region.

He emphasized that there is need to give justice to the people of the Niger Delta, the goose that laid the golden egg.

Earlier, the Izon National Congress President, Professor Benjamin Ogele Okaba while receiving the SDP Presidential Flagbearer, Prince Adebayo Adewale and his entourage said that over the years the Ijaws have been unfairly treated , balkanized as minorities in their respective states despite their sacrifices and huge contributions in terms of resources to the sustenance of the national economy with the negative environmental degradation, despoliation occasioned by the exploration and exploitation of their God given natural resources by the Nigerian State and the Multinational Oil Companies.

The INC President noted that the Ijaws will support a candidate that will restore. their environment and natural rights of resource ownership and control, and demanded for the creation of additional two states and more local government areas in the Ijaw territories, and allow them to own modular refineries.

He thanked Prince Adebayo Adewale for the honour done the Ijaw Nation noting that he is the first presidential candidate that have come to consult with the Ijaw Nation.

The high point of the meeting was the presentation of a written address to the SDP Presidential Flagbearer by Professor Benjamin Ogele Okaba.
