Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has joined his counterparts in the Southern Governors’ Forum and leaders of the Southern Nigeria Traditional Rulers Council in adopting far-reaching resolutions aimed at strengthening security, governance, and regional development.
The meeting, hosted in Ogun State, brought together governors and top traditional rulers from across the South to review the state of the region and chart coordinated responses to emerging challenges.

In a communiqué issued after the meeting, the leaders passed a Vote of Confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, reaffirming their backing for a Southern presidency and acknowledging the President’s ongoing efforts to stabilise the economy and drive major national infrastructure projects.
They also expressed condolences over recent national security losses and pledged continued cooperation with the Federal Government to restore peace across the country.
Key resolutions reached include the establishment of a zonal security fund, enhanced intelligence sharing among states, strengthening of community-based security outfits, and granting traditional rulers a more formalised role in security management. The forum also committed to curbing illegal mining and addressing land-related threats undermining stability in parts of the region.
Governor Sanwo-Olu said the collective message to citizens was clear: the South remains united, determined, and committed to peace, cooperation, and sustainable development.
