Rivers Ijaw Congress withdraws support for Fubara, backs Wike

The Rivers Ijaw People’s Congress (RIPCON) has withdrawn support for Siminilayi Fubara, governor of the state.
Speaking on Saturday during a stakeholders’ meeting in Okrika LGA of Rivers state, George Sekibo, chairman of the group, said the congress now backs Nyesom Wike, minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Sekibo, a former senator, described Fubara as ungrateful, noting that he became governor through Wike’s support.
“Please don’t look at him and think we [Ijaw people] are all ungrateful people. Ijaw people are very grateful people,” Sekibo told Wike, who attended the meeting.
