• Budget covers spending until December 2025

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has officially signed the state’s N1.1 trillion 2025 budget into law.

During his speech after the signing on Thursday, Fubara expressed his gratitude to the State Assembly, led by Speaker Victor Oko-Jumbo, for their diligent work in passing the budget.

Fubara reaffirmed that the only legitimate House of Assembly in the state is the one led by Oko-Jumbo, dismissing any other claims.

This medium recalls that the governor had presented the N1.1 trillion budget to the House of Assembly, under Oko-Jumbo’s leadership, last Monday.

The governor also addressed the defection of Martins Amaewhule and 26 other members from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Despite their recent attempts to retract their actions, Fubara declared that they could no longer be recognized as legislators.

The Amaewhule faction, loyal to former Governor Nyesom Wike, has been in conflict with Fubara. The governor emphasized that after providing ample time for the Amaewhule group to reconsider their position, the decision to disqualify them is final and irreversible.
