RAYMOND OCHEI GETS NEW RANK AS MAJOR GENERAL; CDS LUCKY IRABOR, MRS. OCHEI DO HONOUR OF DECORATION • Maj. Gen Ochei restates commitment to Army’s ideals

Now Major General, the Head of Finance and Administration of 81 DIV. Nigerian Army, Brig. Gen. Raymond Nkem Ochei was officially decorated with his new rank recently in Abuja by the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Lucky Irabor and the wife, Dr. Doris Ochei.
It will be recalled that on 15th December 2022, the Army Council announced the promotion of 52 Brigadier Generals to the next rank as Major Generals. The gallant, erudite Army senior officer, Raymond Nkem Ochei is one of the 52. He is an accounting egghead and an accountable military officer with proven records of service spanning close to three decades.
At the decoration ceremony, Maj. Gen. Ochei laud the exemplary leadership of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Faruk Yahaya. Also, restated his commitment to the ideals which has made the Nigerian Army one of the strongest and most reputable organizations in the country.

Deserving of the elevation, Major General Ochei has demonstrated a vast wealth of knowledge, expertise, and experience in the management of Army resources since he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant about 30 years ago. He was enlisted into the Nigerian Army on 10th September 1993 after passing out of the Nigerian Defence Academy as a member of the 40th Regular Combatant Course.
In the course of his enviable career in the military profession, Maj. Gen. Nkem Ochei has served as a Staff Officer, Army Headquarters Provost Group; Registrar Nigerian Army School of Finance and Administration; Deputy Director Department of Army Training and Operations; Director Army Personnel Pay Office; and Commander Command Finance Office, Apapa. He also served as the Deputy Director Finance, Nigerian Military Attaché to the United Kingdom. He is presently the Acting Director General, Bureau of Army Financial Management and Audit, Abuja.
In addition to the several Junior and Senior Staff Courses that Maj. General Ochei has embarked upon at Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, Ochei also has many other academic qualifications. His academic qualifications include Bachelor of Science (Honours) Economics from Nigerian Defence Academy; Master of Science (M.Sc) Economics from Ambrose Ali University; Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Lead City University; Doctorate Degree (Ph.D) in Forensic Accounting and Audit from Charisma University; and Doctorate Degree (Ph.D) in Public Administration from Babcock University.
He is a fellow of so many professional bodies, namely Institute of Professional Managers and Administrators of Nigeria, Institute of Public Management, Institute of Directors, Institute of Chartered Economists of Nigeria and Institute of Professional Financial Managers. He is also a Fellow Certified National Accountant and a proud member of National Institute (mni).
The Oniocha-Olona born Major General Raymond Ochei has also attended several workshops and seminars both locally and internationally. Some of these workshops/seminars includes Leadership Development Seminar by Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered), Sociology/Forensic Accounting and Audit, by Institute of Certified Public Accounts of Nigeria and Leadership Followership and Team Working by Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered).
He holds Military Service Medals and Awards including the Forces Service Star (FSS), Meritorious Service Star (MSS) and Distinguished Service Star (DSS). The excellent military officer enjoys reading, listening to music, playing piano, lawn tennis, and table tennis as a pastime.
Major General Raymond Nkem Ochei is happily married to Dr. Doris Ochei who conducted the decoration of the new rank alongside the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Lucky Irabor. Their marriage is blessed with four (4) children (two sets of twins).
