Barely Six (6) hours after the Nigerian Army debunked the trending death rumours of Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, describing it as fake news, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt-Gen. Lagbaja, yesterday, spoke to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu via a telephone conversation to update him on his health status, contrary to the swirling death rumour.

According to our source in the villa, the president was excited to hear the voice of his Army chief and prayed for his quick recovery in Yoruba Language.

Our source disclosed that, the Army Chief on the other side of the phone was excited to hear the president praying for him and wishing him a quick recovery.

“The president had a clear conversation with the Army Chief. He spoke to Lagbaja and he was in high spirit. The president was very happy and prayed fervently for his quick recovery.

The Nigerian Army had on Sunday via its official X handle branded as fake news a post by one Jackson Ude, a former Director of Strategy and Communication to former President Goodluck Jonathan, who had challenged the Nigerian Army to provide evidence of that the COAS is alive.

Nevertheless, the Director of Army Public Relations, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu on Saturday in a statement titled “Nigerian Army Operational and Administrative Activities on Course, Contrary to Insinuations in the Media Space,” dismissed the reports as a baseless rumour aimed at causing tension and confusion among military personnel and the general public.

Confirming that the COAS fulfilled all legal processes required by law before proceeding on leave, Major General Nwachukwu maintained that “To be very clear, the Nigerian Army is a highly structured establishment with well-laid-out procedures and processes for dealing with different circumstances.
Before proceeding on leave, necessary protocols were put in place for the Chief of Policy and Plans (Army), Major General Abdulsalami Bagudu Ibrahim, to act on behalf of the COAS while he is away,”.

The Chief of Army Staff is alive and active to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu.
