Human Rights Lawyer, Wahab Shittu has described as lawful the decision by Pressient Bola Tinubu to suspend the Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele and the Chairman of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa. He said the President does not require the nod of the National Assembly to carry out the exercise.

Trek Africa Newspaper can report that the Senior Advocate of Nigeria made this known at the reception and the unveiling of social contact tagged Sustaining of Legacy of Excellence by the newly sworn in Senator for Lagos Central District, Senator Wasiu Sanni Eshinlokun at the Eko Arcade Club on Bode Thomas in Surulere.

Shittu said since the law gave the President the power to appoint those suspended, it is within his prerogative to also suspend them especially within the current circumstances. According to him, those who are attributing the President’s action as being selective were not sincere adding more Nigerians would be quizzed if they question to answer. The Barrister believes that the President took off well but requires the support of all to succeed in delivering his electioneering promises.

In a message to the event, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu assured of cordial relationship with the 10th National Assembly. Represented by Hon. Wahab Alawiye-King, the First Lady said her successor, Senator Wasiu Sanni Eshinlokun will improve on the empowerment and training programmes for the people of Lagos Central Senatorial District.

On his part, the Chairman of the APC in Lagos Island, Alhaji Olayiwola Sadiq disagreed with those saying that the new National Assembly leadership will serve as a rubber stamp to the executive. He explained that every decision made by the National Assembly in terms of approval of Bills and other requests enjoys the collective support of members.

On the removal of fuel subsidy, Alhaji Sadiq noted that President Bola Tinubu has broken the jinx many past leaders failed to do. According to him, the people of the country will soon enjoy the removal of fuel subsidy when the palliative plans by government are fully implemented.

In his welcome address, one of the apex leaders of APC in Lagos Island, Abayomi Daramola said the 2023 general elections was unique as many incumbent Governors and National Assembly members lost their seats. He thanked the people of Lagos Central Senatorial District for their full support of Senator Wasiu Eshinlokun Sanni and other candidates of the party at the 2023 polls.

In her words, Hon Omolara Oyekan-Olumegbon who replaced Senator Eshinlokun at the Lagos House of Assembly described him as humble and versatile lawmaker. She disclosed plans to sponsor Bills that will have direct positive impact on the lives of women in the state while also empowering them through vocational training and skill acquisition. The female lawmaker however lamented that only few women were elected into the newly inaugurated Lagos House of Assembly saying it does not represents the percentage of women that participated during the last general elections in the state.

Trek Africa Newspaper can report that 350 members of Wasiu Eshinlokun Sanni Campaign Council were presented with Certificates of Participation in 2023 general elections at the event.
