Ports Authority Police (Western) Command Holds Maiden Commissioners’ Conference 2026, Unveils Maritime Security Roadmap

The Ports Authority Police (Western) Command has officially commenced its 2026 operational activities with the successful hosting of its first Commissioner’s Conference of the year, setting a decisive tone for enhanced maritime policing and security.
The strategic conference was presided over by the Commissioner of Police, Ports Authority Police (Western) Command, CP Oluwatoyin Iyabode Agbaminoja, psc, mnips, who led senior officers in charting a clear operational direction for the months ahead.
The high-level gathering brought together members of the Command’s Management Team, the Area Commander, Divisional Police Officers, Heads of Departments, and other senior officers drawn from formations across the Western ports corridor.
In her opening remarks, CP Agbaminoja described the conference as a critical platform for reflection, coordination, and renewed commitment to the Command’s mandate of securing Nigeria’s maritime assets.
She emphasized professionalism, discipline, and integrity as non-negotiable pillars of effective policing, urging officers to uphold the highest ethical standards in the discharge of their duties.
The Commissioner further highlighted intelligence-led policing as a key strategy for tackling emerging security threats within port environments and along maritime corridors.
Stressing accountability, CP Agbaminoja declared zero tolerance for corruption, misconduct, or abuse of office, warning that any actions capable of undermining public trust would be decisively addressed.
The CP outlined the Command’s core operational priorities for the year, beginning with enhanced security around port facilities and other critical maritime infrastructure in the Western Command’s jurisdiction.
Respect for human rights was underscored as a central component of policing operations, with officers reminded to balance firm law enforcement with adherence to constitutional provisions.
Strengthened crime prevention measures and improved intelligence gathering within port environments were identified as vital to staying ahead of criminal activities and maritime-related threats.
The Commissioner also called for sustained collaboration with sister security agencies, port authorities, and key stakeholders to ensure a coordinated and effective security framework.
Improving personnel welfare, continuous training, and capacity building were highlighted as essential to boosting morale and operational efficiency across the Command.
The conference provided an opportunity to review the Command’s performance in the previous year, identify operational gaps, and develop actionable strategies for improved service delivery.
Participants were directed to cascade the outcomes of the conference to officers and men under their commands, ensuring strict compliance with operational guidelines and standing orders.
