Police Special Fraud Unit, SFU gets Second Female, CP Josephine Anyasinti as 27th CP-in-charge

The Special Fraud Unit of the Nigeria Police has announced the resumption of Commissioner of Police Josephine Nneka Anyasinti as its new Head.

The spokesman of the SFU, Eyitayo Johnson, announced this development in a statement he issued on Wednesday.

According to Johnson, Anyasinti, who takes over from Anderson Bankole, who is retiring after attaining the age of 60, is the second female to hold sway as the Head of the SFU.

She is an alumna of two prestigious Federal Universities, namely University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), Ile-Ife and University of Nigeria, Nsukka, where she obtained B.A. English (Educ) and M.ED Administration/Supervision respectively.

The new CP enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force with a Master’s Degree on 3rd March, 1990 as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police and was trained at the elite Police Academy Annex Kaduna.

Local Courses attended include Citizenship and Leadership Training Course, Police Mobile Training Course, Advanced Detective Course, Leadership & Empowerment Course for Women, all in Nigeria and United Nations Police Commander Training (UNPCT) Arlanda Sweden.

She obtained United Nations Certifications in Global Terrorism, Peace Keeping and Conflict Resolution and Security for United Nations Peace Keepers.

A skilled and seasoned investigator, CP. Anyasinti possesses vast experience in Law Enforcement and had headed several Investigation Teams at Zone II Police Headquarters Onikan Lagos and Lagos State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID). She was a one-time Commandant, Police Training School, Ibadan, Oyo State, Marketing Manager Police Cooperative, AC Criminal Investigation Department Airport Command, Area Commander Area “G” Ogba Lagos State as well as DC Admin Airport Police Command Ikeja, Lagos. She was the second in command and in charge of Administration at Delta State Police Command, Asaba; before her elevation and re-deployment to the Special Fraud Unit.

The CP is a recipient of the “United Nations Medal in Support of World Peace” (2004) while participating in United Nations Peace Keeping Mission to Kosovo, South-East Europe in 2003 – 2005 and 2007 – 2008.

A result oriented Human Manager, CP. Anyasinti is a strong believer in Team Work, Dedication and Discipline.

Johnson said after Anyasinti inspected the Guard mounted in her honour at the Unit on resumption, she held a brief meeting with the Management Team/Team Managers and charged them on professionalism, diligent Investigation, timely conclusion of Investigation and prosecution of suspects.

She also emphasised on the “Rights of suspects” detained in the cell while expressing her aversion to needless/over detention of suspects with or without a Court Order.

The CP, according to Johnson, is happily married with children and her hobbies include Reading, Traveling and Listening to Soul Music.

He added: The Unit wishes to use this medium to solicit for continued support of relevant stakeholders for the new Commissioner of Police to enable her achieve the mandate of reducing the prevalence of fraud/corruption cases, crimes and criminality in Nigeria through successful prosecution of perpetrators.”
