Police Nab Over 30,000 Suspects, Seize Nearly 2,000 Firearms In Massive 2024 Operation!

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has announced that the Nigeria Police Force achieved significant milestones in 2024, including the arrest of 30,313 suspects, the seizure of 1,984 firearms, and the recovery of 23,250 rounds of ammunition.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, following a strategic meeting with senior officers at the Force Headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday.
The meeting, held in the Goodluck Ebele Peacekeeping Hall, served as a platform to review the Force’s achievements and chart a course for enhanced policing in the coming year.
Highlighting the successes of 2024, the IGP noted a reduction in crime rates and improved relations between the police and communities. He stressed the importance of collaboration between the police and the public in fostering trust and ensuring security.
The statement detailed that the arrests were linked to various serious crimes, with additional achievements including the rescue of 1,581 kidnapping victims.
Looking ahead to 2025, IGP Egbetokun outlined plans to integrate advanced technologies and modern policing strategies to address emerging challenges. He encouraged senior officers to adopt innovative tools and practices to enhance the effectiveness of crime prevention and investigation.
“In the year under review, the Nigeria Police Force recorded major strides in combating crime, resulting in 30,313 arrests, the recovery of 1,984 assorted firearms, 23,250 rounds of ammunition, and the rescue of 1,581 victims of kidnapping,” the statement read.
The IGP also assured Nigerians of the Force’s readiness to ensure a secure environment during the festive season, emphasizing a commitment to accountability, transparency, and public partnership.
“As we approach the festive season, the Nigeria Police Force, under my leadership, will implement necessary measures to guarantee safety and peace for all citizens,” Egbetokun said, reaffirming the Force’s dedication to safeguarding lives and properties.
