The Head of West Africa Examinations Council (WAEC) Nigeria National Office, Dr. Patrick Areghan round up his tenure as the head of the examinations body in Nigeria yesterday 1st of October 2023, Trek Africa Newspaper.

The man who took the reins in 6th March 2020 was able to navigate the flagship organization through many challenges including insecurity in some parts of the country, high inflation rate in the country, rogue website operators and shameless connivance of some supervisors and the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Covid-19 pandemic, in particular, forced the examination body to stagger the schedule of WASSCE for school candidates in year 2020 from the start date of 6th April to a new timeline of 17th August – 12th September 2020.

Despite the challenges, Trek Africa Newspaper can confirm that the excellent administrator, Areghan has been able to revert the WASSCE for school candidates to its standard May/June period. This is a remarkable and significant feat.
