Osibanjo Sees Future Billionaires in Young Nigerian Innovators, Entrepreneurs

-As Ganduje Donates N15m to Innovators project
Vice President Yemi Osinbanjo encourages young Nigerian innovators and entrepreneurs to remain focused and dogged in their effort towards transforming their ideas into reality, adding that, “I am more confident that tomorrow’s Billionaires are seated here today.”
He made the assertion at the 2018, Northern Regional Finals of Student Innovation Challenge (SIC), held at Dangote Business School, Bayero University, Kano, Monday.
“Never give up try and try again. You should keep on trying. I am very excited by this project. As many of the innovators are educated here in Nigeria. It is evidently clear that we must support these young innovators,” he said.
The programme featured young innovators who thought of their original ideas and put them into reality, that fruited into some products. Of which they displayed the talents before the Vice President and other dignitaries at the event.
According to the Vice President, “This project, Student Innovation Challenge is a public private partnership which is put in place for the development of our nation. For you, our dear innovators, the fulfilment of your dream has since started.”
Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state has donated the sum of N15 million for the development of the new project of young innovators and entrepreneurs.
He said, “The innovators have translated their ideas into opportunities. These innovators can help in the development of the country.”
Governor Ganduje added that, “In the past there were such innovations but they fizzled away because there were no similar programmes as this. The way things are moving now, it is very clear that our population is fast becoming an asset.”
While commending the Bayero University, Kano, Ganduje emphasised that, “The succession system in the university helped much in making the university one of the most peaceful universities in the country.”
With the Fifteen Million Naira donated by the Kano state government, Dangote Groups through the Group Managing Director Engineer Mansur Ahmed, donated the sum of N10m, Nigeria Communication Commission donated the sum of N20m and Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC) donated N10m.
The Director General of Nigeria Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) donated the sum of N4.5m to the winners at the event. First winner takes N2m, second winne takes home the sum of N1.5 and the third position winner takes home the sum of N1m.
