Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife, has inducted Luiz Lula, Brazilian president, as a descendant of Oduduwa.

Moses Olafare, the media aide at Ooni’s Palace, said the induction took place in Brasilia, Brazil’s federal capital.

Olafare said the Ooni visited three other states there, including Sao Paulo, Rio De Janeiro, and Salvador Bahia.

The motive for the visit, he said, is to continue the global tour for African people’s peace and progress agenda.

During the tour, the Ooni called for the unity of African descendants across the world.

The Osun monarch admonished legislators to support the country’s president with pro-Afro-Brazilian legislation.

“We cannot afford to be divided again. We are one, irrespective of colour and race,” the Ooni said.

“President Lula remains determined to do well for Africa, and you must support him with legislation.”

Brazil holds a substantial population of people who are Yoruba.

The Ooni inducted President Luiz Lula into the descendancy of Oduduwa, the progenitor of the Yoruba people.

He said he would be pleased to welcome the Afro-Brazilians into his kingdom in Ile-Ife.

Ooni of Ife called for the need to solidify the relationship between Nigeria and Brazil.

He added that the relationship will aid the exchange of commodities, ideas, and investments.

“Beyond here in Brazil, I am delighted to inform you that you all have a home in my Kingdom,” the monarch said.

“There are free lands for you to come and build your homes across Africa. I vow never to forget you.

“You are a major part of us in my Kingdom of Ile-Ife and we hope to receive you home soon as possible.”
