Ogun APC names Kudirat Adegunwa-Balogun as Yayi’s running mate

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun state has unveiled Kudirat Adegunwa-Balogun, a 51-year-old chartered accountant, as its deputy governorship candidate for the 2027 election.
Adegunwa-Balogun, a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), will serve as running mate to Solomon Adeola, the party’s governorship candidate.
Dapo Abiodun, governor of Ogun, presented Adegunwa-Balogun in Abeokuta, the state capital, on Sunday at the APC strategic caucus meeting.
The governor said the decision was reached after extensive consultations with leaders of the party across the state.
A statement issued on Sunday by Emmanuel Ojo, senior special assistant on new media to the governor, described Adegunwa-Balogun as a distinguished finance professional and business leader with over 30 years of experience in finance, corporate governance, manufacturing, business transformation, and strategic leadership.
She holds an MBA in finance from Bayes Business School, London, and a bachelor’s degree in computer science from the University of Lagos.
According to the statement, she is a fellow of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAN) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), United Kingdom (UK), and has attended executive leadership programmes at Harvard Business School and the Wharton School.
Adegunwa-Balogun currently serves as the chief financial officer and executive director, finance and information technology, at Rite Foods Limited, “where she has played a pivotal role in the growth of one of Nigeria’s leading indigenous manufacturing companies”.
“A passionate advocate for women empowerment, youth development, entrepreneurship, and institutional excellence, she is widely respected for her integrity, competence, innovation, and results-driven leadership,” the statement reads.
“As the APC deputy governorship candidate, she brings a wealth of experience in corporate leadership, financial management, and strategic governance, further strengthening the party’s commitment to inclusive development, economic growth, and prosperity for the people of Ogun state.
