Obasanjo Urges Biden To Remove Cuba From List Of Çountries Sponsoring Terrorism

Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has written to US President Joe Biden urging him to remove Cuba from the list of countries accused of sponsoring terrorism around the world.
According to the former President’s letter dated September 3, the listing hurts millions of Cuban citizens.
The letter stated: “I have great pleasure in addressing this letter to you, Mr. President, in my capacity as former President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, who has always advocated for peace, justice, and the well-being of all nations.
“It has come to my attention that Cuba is currently listed by the United States as one of the countries that support or sponsor terrorism around the world.
“In light of my interactions and relationships with the Cuban government and people, particularly during and after Fidel Castro’s presidency, I would like to request that you, President Biden, reconsider Cuba’s inclusion on the global list of countries supporting terrorism. I am aware of and appreciate Cuba’s contributions to the final dismantling of colonialism and apartheid in Africa.
“I implore you to act with compassion and empathy for the millions of Cuban citizens who will bear the brunt of Cuba’s inclusion on the global list of countries supporting terrorism.
“I appreciate your attention to this matter and hope that you will consider it.
“Please accept my highest consideration, Your Excellency.”
